Do You Need a New Roof?

When is it time for a roof replacement?

Do you know when your roof was installed?

Did you just buy an older home and are not sure about the roof?

Like appliances, roofs have a lifespan before they need to be replaced. U.S. News did a Money article about the lifespan and projected replacement costs for everything from refrigerators and water heaters to the roof over your head. If you’re a new homeowner this is valuable information!

Depending on the type of shingle and the materials used, you shouldn’t need roof replacement for 20 to 30 years. Weather damage and other factors can have an impact on the lifespan of your roof.

Here are three things to look out for

  • WEATHER DAMAGE

A small tree limb may not seem like it could do much damage, but with enough force, it could damage the shingle and underlayment exposing your hardwood to water. Whenever there’s a storm you should give your home a once-over just in case. Small damage spots are easy to repair early.

  • SAGGING ROOF

A sure sign of age and water damage is sagging spots on the roof. You should be able to see these spots from the outside, but you may want to climb into your attic for a better view.

  • MOLD GROWTH

Dark grey or black mold streaks are relatively easy to clean off your shingles. However, if the mold is coming from rotting wood, that’s a bigger problem that could require a full roof replacement. Again, you should be able to tell by climbing into your attic.

“Very satisfied with the work Roofman did. Would recommend them. They also did a complete roof replacement for my daughter’s house. Great job on both houses” – Suzzane M. Read More Customer Reviews
